2011 Parapan American Games Team Announced
Archery Canada Announces the Athletes Selected
for the 2011 Parapan American Games Team
OTTAWA, September 23, 2011 – Archery Canada is pleased to announce its team nominated to the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) to represent archery at the 2011 Parapan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, November 12 to 20, 2011.
The Canadian Team will be led by 2008 Paralympian, Kevin Evans (Jaffray, BC). Evans
is a two-time World Champion, having struck gold in the Men’s Open Compound Bow
category at the 2007 and 2009 Para-Archery World Championships. In late May of this
year, Evans was named World Archery’s Athlete of the Week because of his early
season success at the international level. In addition to his World Champion titles,
Evans is the holder of two world records in his category. He also competes in many
domestic and international tournaments against able-bodied competitors.
Evans will be joined by fellow Canadian archers Bob Hudson (Leoville, SK) and Lyne
Tremblay (Magog, QC). Tremblay, a 2008 Paralympian, is looking to be in the medal
hunt in the Women’s Recurve Bow ARW2 category and in the process, secure a quota
spot for the 2012 Paralympic Games. Hudson has had a strong 2011 season, following
a season-ending injury in 2010. At the recent Stoke Mandeville Open held in Stoke
Mandeville, England, Hudson had a season’s best score and placement (4th place) and
thereby secured a Paralympic Games quota spot for Canada in the Men’s Open
Compound category.
