Archery Canada Bylaws

Archery Canada (formerly Federation of Canadian Archers Inc.) is a not-for-profit National Sport Organization (NSO) that is nationally-incorporated and  subject to the Canadian Not-for-Profit Corporations
Act. The Archery Canada By-Laws provide the structure and framework for the governance of Archery Canada and are approved by the Board of Directors and ratified by the Members (Provincial/Territorial Organizations).

Archery Canada Policies

Archery Canada is committed to creating and upholding the highest standards of governance through transparent policy development. Below are Archery Canada’s policies that address a variety of areas that apply to Archery Canada employees, volunteers, athletes, coaches, officials and all other support personnel. All Archery Canada policies are reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors regularly. 

Aboriginal Policy

Summary:

Archery Canada recognizes and supports people of the aboriginal community in Canada to participate in all aspects of organized sport to the fullest.

Appeal Policy

Summary:

Archery Canada recognizes the right of any Registrant to appeal the decisions of Archery Canada and hereby provides for an appropriate process for addressing appeals that could arise from time-to-time from such decisions of Archery Canada.

Athlete Protection Guidelines

Summary:

These Athlete Protection Guidelines describe how Persons in Authority shall maintain a safe sport environment for all athletes/participants.

Championship Hosting Policy

Summary: 

The purpose of this operational policy is to provide direction and guidance for the scheduling and hosting of National Domestic and Major International archery events within Canada as overseen by the Archery Canada Events Sub-Committee. Archery Canada events typically will be organized by Archery Canada clubs in partnership with a Provincial or Territorial Member. This ensures that the benefits of hosting accrue directly to entities within Archery Canada and contribute to the achievement of Archery Canada’s mission. Archery Canada will award hosting rights based primarily on the ability of the designated organizing committee to deliver these benefits.

Code of Conduct and Ethics

Summary:

The purpose of this Code is to ensure a safe and positive environment (within Archery Canada’s programs, activities, and events) by making Individuals aware that there is an expectation, at all times, of appropriate behaviour consistent with Archery Canada’s core values. Archery Canada supports equal opportunity, prohibits discriminatory practices, and is committed to providing an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and fairness.

Complaints and Discipline Policy

Summary:

Registrants are expected to conduct themselves at all times in a manner consistent with the values of Archery Canada that include fairness, integrity, open communication and mutual respect. Individuals are expected to fulfill certain responsibilities and obligations including, but not limited to, complying with Archery Canada’s policies, Bylaws, rules and regulations, and the Code of Conduct and Ethics. Non-compliance may result in sanctions pursuant to this Policy.

Concussion Protocol

Summary:

Archery Canada has developed the Archery Canada Concussion Protocol to help guide the management of athletes and registrants who may have a suspected concussion while participating in the sport of archery.  This protocol will apply whether the suspected concussion is as a result of an incident with the sport environment of archery or due to an incident outside of the sport environment.

Conflict of Interest Policy

Summary:

No Director, officer or employee of the Federation of Canadian Archers (Archery Canada) shall have any position with, or substantial interest in, any other business enterprise operated for profit, the existence of which would conflict or might reasonably be supposed to conflict with the performance of his/her Archery Canada duties, or which might tend to affect his/her independence of judgement with respect to transactions between Archery Canada and such business enterprise, without full and complete disclosure thereof to the Executive Committee. No Director, officer or employee of Archery Canada shall use his/her position to influence the Archery Canada team selection or judging decisions where personal interests are involved.

Dispute Resolution Policy

Summary:

Registrants are expected to conduct themselves at all times in a manner consistent with the values of Archery Canada that include fairness, integrity, open communication and mutual respect. Irresponsible behaviour by Registrants can do severe damage to the sport of archery and to the support that all levels of archers have worked so hard to achieve. Conduct that violates these values and the Archery Canada Code of Conduct and Ethics or Social Media Policy may be subject to sanctions pursuant to Archery Canada’s Complaint and Disciplinary Policy. The purpose of this policy is to provide individuals with a mechanism so that complaints, disputes and appeals can be dealt with fairly, expeditiously and affordably within Archery Canada, without having to resort to formal legal and court-like procedures.

Donations & Tax Receipt Policy

Summary:

This policy is intended to provide guidance to Archery Canada (AC) and potential donors on how to treat donations of various types and to provide tax receipts in specific circumstances. AC may accept all contributions of cash, assets or services, however only contributions that are voluntary and meet the requirements the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) defines as a “gift” are eligible for tax receipts. While AC accepts donations of services, no donation receipt can be issued.

Equity and Inclusion Policy

Summary:

Sport plays a major role in promoting the inclusion of all groups in society. Archery Canada is committed to inclusive and available sport for everyone in Canada. Archery Canada is committed to the achievement of sport equity and equal opportunity, including the establishment and maintenance of an organizational and sport environment whereby all Registrants have the opportunity to contribute to the sport to their maximum potential.

Financial Policy

Summary:

The purpose of this financial policy is to guide the financial management practices of Archery Canada. The organization will function as a Not-for-Profit and all fundraising, fees, sponsorship, grants and other revenue sources will be used for the ongoing development of the sport.

Membership Policy

Summary:

The purpose of this Policy is to describe the application, rights, conditions and obligations for membership within Archery Canada/ Tir à l’Arc, also known as the Federation of Canadian Archers Inc. (FCA), herein referred to as Archery Canada.

Official Languages Policy

Summary:

Archery Canada recognises the principle that any member of Archery Canada should be able to communicate, verbally or in writing, in either of the official languages when dealing with Archery Canada or conducting business within Archery Canada. Archery Canada will continue to provide these services within the confines of available resources.

Privacy Policy

Summary:

Privacy of personal information is governed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronics Documents Act (“PIPEDA”). This policy describes the way that Archery Canada collects, uses, retains, safeguards, discloses and disposes of personal information, and states Archery Canada’s commitment to collecting, using and disclosing personal information responsibly. This policy is based on the standards required by PIPEDA, and Archery Canada’s interpretation of these responsibilities.

Reciprocity Policy

Summary:

The purpose of this Policy is to ensure national enforcement and recognition of all disciplinary sanctions applied by Archery Canada, PTSOs, and Clubs.

Screening Policy

Summary:

Archery Canada understands that screening personnel and volunteers is a vital part of providing a safe sporting environment and has become a common practice among sport organizations that provide programs and services to the community.

Severe Weather Policy

Summary:

Severe weather is that which may or will have an immediate impact on the safety of participants, judges, staff, spectators or the venue. This policy is for use at all national events and to serve as a guide for local event organizers when making a decision to postpone disrupt or cancel a tournament as a result of an extreme weather event.

Social Media Policy

Summary:

The objective of the Archery Canada Social Media Policy is to provide directives for the appropriate use of social media by Registrants (individuals and clubs), Representatives and the Provincial/Territorial Members. It includes, but is not limited to, social media activities such as posts, Likes, shares and Tweets initiated by an individual, as well as re-tweeting or re-posting someone else’s comment(s) and/or content(s) to one’s own social media account. 2.2 All Registrants, by demonstrating leadership and good judgement, have a shared responsibility and accountability to implement and enforce this Policy

Trans Inclusion Policy

Summary:

Archery Canada believes that all individuals deserve respectful and inclusive environments for participation in our sport that values all individuals’ gender identities and gender expressions. Archery Canada wants to ensure that all participants have access to programming and facilities in which they feel welcome, respected and safe.

Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport 6.0 (UCCMS 6.0)

The Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) is the core document that sets harmonized rules to be adopted by sport organizations that receive funding from the Government of Canada to advance a respectful sport culture that delivers quality, inclusive, accessible, welcoming and safe sport experiences.

Volunteer Recognition Policy

Summary:

Archery Canada recognises the importance of volunteers to the sport of archery. There are two forms of recognition, special plaques and lapel pins. Every year Archery Canada Annual Awards are given to volunteers nominated by the Provinces or Committees and voted on by the Archery Canada Board of Director. The wooden plaques are kept at the Archery Canada national office. The recipients receive individual keepsakes. Archery Canada awards 3 levels of volunteer recognition pins presented to the individual recipient.

Vote by Mail Policy

Summary:

The objective of this policy is to outline the parameters and procedures for conducting vote-by-mail voting on the Archery Canada Board of Directors.
