Fact: (Crazy but true) When TeamCanadajersey arrived with my name on it; I quickly put it on; danced around the house in a fit of joyous laughter and I even slept in it! LOL! I said to my husband…’This is as close as I will get to the Olympics!’
Getting started: I was introduced to the sport of archery approximately 10 years ago. In northernOntario, we shoot outdoors on weekends from the start of May to end of August. A tournament day is a Saturday on the 3D course with family and friends; filled with joy and laughter and exchanging adventure stories and yes, shooting 2 rounds of 20 3D targets! One can hope for a clean round and work to surpass a personal best!
Past events: I have placed well a number of times at the provincial level and on the national scene, shooting pins (BHR). Using a scope this past year has been interesting! Yikes!
Greatest accomplishment: the ability to foster a love of learning and an interest in archery at the local club level. I consistently work at providing opportunities for growth and coach those who want to develop their abilities at the OFSA (high school) level as well as participate in more competitive settings like the Ontario Summer Games.
Thoughts on Archery: Archery is the sum total of 3 parts: good equipment, a working body and a great mindset. When the three come together; it is a winning situation for sure!
Practise and training: Daily mix of 30 minutes of walking & running in the morning as well as working out with weights to create resistance; practise breathing; a variety of stretching exercises for flexibility and some evening walks to practise yardage (i.e. How far from the garbage pail to the driveway?) LOL! Time is needed on the range for shooting practise for form and accuracy.
Next steps: I come from the world of education where, life IS the learning! I look forward to competing inAustria and bringing back the learning to share with colleagues and friends as we further develop the sport of archery inOntario,Canada.
May ALL your arrows fly straight into the target!
Anne, Many thanks for all your work in getting us all ready!
Enjoy the day J
