1)   Introduction

This document is an Addendum to Archery Canada’s Canadian Team Selection Policies. The Canadian Team Selection Policy governs all Archery Canada’s selection processes to Canadian Teams.

The purpose of this document is to define the event specific terms used by Archery Canada to select and prepare the athletes, who will represent Canada at the 2017 World Archery Youth Championship (WAYC).

2)   SELECTION CRITERIA

To be eligible for selection, athletes must meet the following eligibility criteria for the 2017 WAYC Canadian Team.

ELIGIBILITY

Athletes must have shot at least two (2) scores in a 720 round equal to or above the scores of one of the eligible standards in the table below before May 1, 2017. Any qualifying scores must be officially published on the web. If not published on the web, the original scorecard or a scanned copy signed by the Director of Scoring of the tournament must be sent to Archery Canada’s Youth Program Coordinator (marc.gagnon@archerycanada.ca) by May 1, 2017. The tournaments at which the qualifying scores were achieved must have been:

  • Registered with Archery Canada;
  • Registered with World Archery; or
  • Registered with any World Archery member association (e.g., USA Archery).

For recurve archers, any qualifying scores must be shot in a tournament in which the archer registered in the same category in which he / she would compete in at the 2017 WAYC.

For compound archers, qualifying scores shot as cadet will be considered eligible for participation as junior in the 2017 WAYC.

  • For each category, Archery Canada will prepare an athlete ranking list to be used for selection in the following order of priority:
    1.  First Priority: the top athletes by highest score having achieved A Standard minimum scores
    2. Second Priority: the top two (2) ranked athletes by highest score having achieved B Standard minimums
    3. Third Priority: the single (1) top rank athlete by highest score having achieved C Standard minimums
  • From the athlete ranking list, athletes will be selected in a top-down format to the 2017 WAYC Canadian Team;

Note: Archery Canada will announce its selection for the 2017 WAYC Canadian Team on May 5, 2017.
