Eligibility for Archery Canada Funding Support in 2016 - 2017

ONLY those athletes that meet at a minimum, the Red Squad criteria as per the published 2015 Ranking List* are eligible for Archery Canada funding support.  Archers who are not able to demonstrate proficiency at the minimum level of Red Squad via 2015 outdoor tournament scores leading up to these major events will not be eligible for selection unless extenuating circumstances apply. NOTE: The rationale for this requirement is that athletes must clearly demonstrate they are physically fit and ready to compete as a high performance athlete (for the athlete’s own health and safety and to ensure Archery Canada’s funding is invested appropriately in its high performance para-archery program) .

The amount of Archery Canada funding support for each event will be determined using the above priority list, the number of athletes and support staff attending, and the available funds received from Sport Canada. The proposed budget for each specific event is noted below.

Athletes NOT Attaining 2015 Red Squad Criteria

Athletes not attaining the Red Squad criteria (as per the 2015 Ranking List Criteria document posted on the Archery Canada website) but interested in competing in major competitions, are not restricted from registering and competing (provided there is a spot available in the athlete’s category and if  it is determined that there are sufficient staff to support the team). Archery Canada will coordinate entries and arrangements for accommodation/meals and also payment to the Organizing Committee, on behalf of ALL athletes/staff (funded or not). ALL athletes and staff are solely responsible for arranging and paying for their flights. Reimbursement from Archery Canada will occur soon after submission of receipts/invoices to Archery Canada (for those eligible for Archery Canada funding as outlined above).

2016 - 2017 Para-Archery Budget for Major Competitions & Training Camps

The 2016 - 2017 Para-Archery budget for major competitions is currently based on an amount of $60,000. These funds provided are to help cover the majority of costs incurred by athletes and selected official team staff participating in the above priority events. Therefore, athletes and selected staff should be prepared to cover some or all of the costs for lower priority events that they may plan to attend.

Confirm Interest in Competing

ALL athletes interested in being considered to compete and receive funding for the above listed events are to notify Ryan Van Berkel, volunteer Para-Archery Coordinator, by Monday, February 1nd 2016. Email Ryan and copy Scott Ogilvie at the Archery Canada national office

Payment of Entry Fee, Accommodation/Meals, On-site Ground Transportation & Flights

Athletes eligible for Archery Canada funding, may not receive funds in advance of the competition rather they will be reimbursed at some point during the 2016 - 2017 season. The same applies to any staff that may be assigned as support staff. As always, Archery Canada will do its utmost to reimburse as soon as possible.

As the national sport organization and member organization with World Archery, Archery Canada is responsible for the submission of the entries and flight itineraries, arrangements for accommodation and payment to the Organizing Committee for Priorities #1, #2, #4, #5, #7  (If Canada receives an invitation to attend) Pan American Championships, Dutch Para Archery Tournament  and the Czech Target WRE.
