Outdoor Mailmatch

The Outdoor Mailmatch consists of a series of World Archery 720 Rounds (Archery Canada 720 Round) (AC rules 4.5.1.5 to 4.5.1.7) shot at multiple Club locations across the country.

The Outdoor Mailmatch will be open to competition from June 1 through to September yearly.  Over the course of the competition individual archers may submit up to 18 scores, one scoring round per calendar week.

At the end of the competition only the top 6 scores will be used to calculate the average score for each archer.  As long as 6 scores are received before the September 30th deadline you can be involved.

The Outdoor Mailmatch is like two competitions in one….first archer’s average scores will be ranked according to Archery Canada categories and equipment divisions where Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded in all recognized divisions.

Second, archers still have a chance to win a Gold medal if they place first in their Outdoor Mailmatch Class and have not won a Gold medal under the Archery Canada categories (these can be found under the Outdoor Mailmatch Rules). Classifications are based strictly on equipment regardless of age or sex.

Individual archers wishing to compete in the Outdoor Mailmatch are asked to submit their registration through the Club Secretary before July 15 of the calendar year.  All final score submissions must be submitted to the Outdoor Mailmatch Coordinator prior to October 15th to be considered for entry for final standing.

More information can be found at the link provided on the Archery Canada website under Tournaments/ Outdoor Mailmatch. Or you can contact Darcy Dean, the Outdoor Mailmatch Coordinator.

Good luck and all the best to those competing!!!

Outdoor Mailmatch

The Outdoor Mailmatch is a new initiative offered through Archery Canada to incorporate a yearly competition operating from June through to the end of September as an outdoor target competition.  Competitors may shoot a maximum of one World Archery 720 Round (AC 4.5.1.5 to 4.5.1.7 – 72 arrows shot from 70, 60, 50 or 30 meters outdoor dependent on category and division) per week for 18 weeks.  These scores are sent to the Outdoor Mailmatch Coordinator who will send out monthly updates of scores and averages.  At the end of the 18 weeks the six best scores for each individual archer are averaged and medals awarded in two ways, first under the Archery Canada categories and divisions (Gold, Silver and Bronze) and secondly by the listed Outdoor Mailmatch classifications (only Gold is award to the top score in each classification if a Gold has not been awarded in the Archery Canada Category and divisions).

The Outdoor Mailmatch is an excellent opportunity for the archer who cannot get to any of the larger tournaments during the summer months but still wants to test his / her skills against competitors from across the country.  It also gives the archer an idea as to how other archers are shooting by comparison.  This competition also provides a great practice format for tournaments but under less stressful conditions.

If you wish to join the Outdoor Mailmatch organize your club and contact Darcy Dean, Archery Canada’s Outdoor Mailmatch Coordinator.
